Kelly Killoren Bensimon ditched her wedding four days before the ceremony — and now she's sharing why.
The "Real Housewives of New York" alum opened up to "Entertainment Tonight" about her decision in an interview published Wednesday after calling off her engagement to finance executive Scott Litner.
"He thought that I would enter this union without legal protections in place, that I would leave everything to faith," Bensimon told the outlet. "But I've worked really, really, hard as a single mother and have always made smart decisions for myself and my family, and that will continue."
The Douglas Elliman luxury real estate agent continued: "It was a rough day for me, but I could never start a life together under those circumstances. I wish him well."

Before she got engaged to her now-ex-fiancé, Bensimon was married to fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon from 1997 until 2007.
The pair share two daughters: Sea Bensimon, 26, and Teddy Bensimon, 24.
Bensimon's reps confirmed to E! News and Page Six last year that the pair got engaged over the Fourth of July weekend during a vacation to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin near where the reality TV alum was raised.
Bensimon returned to the limited Peacock series "The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy," a spinoff version of the beloved Bravo franchise featuring former Housewives.
The series' fourth installment included Housewives from the New York universe including Bensimon, Luann de Lesseps, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, and Kristen Taekman as they took their big personality from the Big Apple to St. Barths.
Last July, "The Real Housewives of New York City" returned to Bravo with a brand-new cast for Season 14.
